About this training
Ensure your professional credentials remain active with our comprehensive Armed Guard Renewal course, fully compliant with Tennessee Code Annotated Ā§ 62-35-122. This intensive 4-hour program is designed to refresh and refine the skills of current armed officers. The curriculum includes a deep dive into legal limitations on the use of a firearm, liability issues under Tennessee Titles 39 and 40, and modern de-escalation strategies. A major portion of the class is dedicated to hands-on marksmanship and safety protocols. You will be required to demonstrate proficiency through a live-fire qualification course on a commissioner-approved silhouette target, where a score of 70% or higher is mandatory for passing. Upon successful completion, you will receive the certified training transcript and documentation required for your biennial renewal application through the stateās online portal.

Requirements
Current License: Must hold a valid Tennessee Armed Security Guard License (active or within the 90-day grace period).
Minimum Age: Must be at least 21 years old.
Equipment: A reliable, duty-quality handgun (centerfire only; no rimfire). Note: You must qualify with each firearm type/caliber you intend to carry on duty.
Ammunition: 50 rounds of factory-new ammunition (no reloads). Some instructors may require up to 100 rounds for practice and qualification.
Gear: A sturdy belt, a quality holster (outside-the-waistband preferred), at least two magazines or speed-loaders, and eye and ear protection.
Performance: Must pass a written examination and achieve a minimum of 70% on the live-fire silhouette target course.
Legal Status: Must maintain eligibility as a U.S. citizen or legally resident alien with no new disqualifying criminal convictions
